Hello! My name is Jasem Amoudi and this is my personal website. By day, I am a research engineer, having graduated from the University of Arizona in aerospace engineering. My true passion, however, is photography. I started photography in early 2020, with no idea what it would have brought me. I borrowed my sister’s Canon Rebel with no idea of how to use it. All the knobs and buttons seemed like a mystery to me. What did I want to take photos of? What was calling me to photography? Growing up, I was always one to latch onto a new hobby. Each hobby slowly faded away and never came back. Photography is that one hobby that never left me. Each photo tells a story, either abstractly or concretely. Photography makes the viewer and the photographer feel strong emotions. I’ve come to learn that with photography, it is best to have no expectations before going out with your gear. A lack of expectations is what manifests creativity and exploration. During my journey, that very same old Canon Rebel has found its way to my brother’s hand, passing on a lifetime of memories, skills, and those very same emotions.

Photography
I shot various scenes, from flowing landscapes to wildlife. Some of my favorite types of photography are street, protest/activism, and architecture. I normally shoot in black and white; I have a knack for finding the shadows and the intersection of highlights and deep blacks.
